  • Utility account and/or meter numbers
  • Social media account identifiers such a usernames and handles

Non-personal Information or Non-Personal Data refers to any information that does not identify you as a specific individual.

Examples of Non-personal Information collected include, but are not limited to:

  • Energy consumption information
  • Website use from your visit to our site including pages visited, length of time on pages visited, your IP address, browser, your operating system, ISP name, and search terms used to navigate to the site

Please note that at all times Alternative Energy Source will adhere to the applicable legal definition in determining what is and is not Personal Data for the purposes of this Privacy Policy. Where this Privacy Policy refers to “information” or “your information” this may include both Personal Information and Non-Personal Information.

The Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

Comments

When you leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent string to aid with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact Forms

Alternative Energy Source collects information when you create or update your contact information.  This to allows visitors to easily request information from us, sign up for email communications, and receive promotions and announcements.

The information collected through these forms may include name, company name, company address, office phone, mobile phone, job title, company size, industry, email, utility billing information, and reason for contacting us.

This information may be used to provide quotes and assemble custom service proposals. We may also use this data personalize future offers and emails.

This information is stored and protected as described in the section, “How We Protect Your Data.”

Cookies

To create an optimal site experience, we may use cookies. We use cookies and similar technologies for purposes such as authenticating users, remembering user preferences and settings, determining delivering and measuring the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, analyzing site traffic and trends, and generally understanding the online behaviors and interests of people who interact with our services.

Alternative Energy Source uses Google Analytics to help shape and improve visitor site experiences.

Google Analytics collects first-party cookies, data related to the device/browser, IP address, and on-site activities to measure and report statistics about your interactions on the site.

Google Analytics also collects IP addresses to provide and protect the security of the service, and to identify general IP geolocation information.

You may disable cookies or delete any individual cookie. In addition, Google Analytics supports an optional browser add-on that – once installed and enabled – disables measurement by Google Analytics for any site a user visits. Note that this add-on only disables Google Analytics measurement.

Our site links to other websites. Those sites are not governed by this privacy policy. Alternative Energy Source is not responsible for the privacy policies and practices of third party sites. We encourage you to review and understand the privacy policies of other sites you choose to visit.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Other Uses

Alternative Energy Sources may use information collected to assist you when you contact our customer support services and for testing, research, analysis and product development.  This allow us to improve and enhance our customer experience and the safety and security of our services, develop new features and products, and facilitate insurance and finance solutions in connection with our services and products.  Alternative Energy Sources may also use the information we collect to communicate with you about products, services, studies, news and updates or as otherwise allowed by applicable law, or as requested by regulators, government entities, and official inquiries.

 

Who We Share Your Data With

We may share your Personal Information and Non-personal Information with third parties, contractors, consultants, and other organizations who require the information to help us. perform functions and process user data and help provide our services, consistent with this Privacy Policy. Where a third party processes user data on our behalf (e.g., a hosting service provider), it is subject to security and confidentiality obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.  Where a third party processes user data on its own behalf, its processing is subject to its own Privacy Policy and applicable law.

 

Do Not Track

Alternative Energy Source does not track its customers over time and across third party websites to provide targeted advertising and therefore does not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals in browsers because no DNT has been adopted.  However, some third party sites do keep track of your browsing activities when they serve you content, which enables them to tailor what they present to you.  If you are visiting such sites, various browsers (including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari) allow you to set the DNT signal on your browser. You can usually access your browser’s DNT option in your browser’s preferences.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website, we also store your Personal Information provided in your user profile. You can see, edit, or delete your Personal Information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

All other Personal Information will be retained consistent with business objectives. Except as specified elsewhere in this agreement, Alternative Energy Source will not set expiration dates on information retention or until your consent for retention of your Personal Information is specifically revoked.

 

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have provided Personal Information to us while using our site, you can request an exported file of your Personal Data that we retain. You can also request that we erase any (of your) Personal Data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you have provided Personal Information using to our site, you may also request a copy of the information retained. You may also request that we make changes to that information, including deletion. We will honor that request unless otherwise prohibited by law. You can change your Personal Information by emailing us.

However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

How We Protect Your Data

We take precautions to protect your Personal Information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect Personal Information, that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the eb page.

While we use encryption to protect Personal Information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to Personal Information. The computers/servers in which we store Personal Information are kept in a secure environment.

Alternative Energy Source has instituted both technical and administrative security measures appropriate to protect your Personal Information under our control from theft and misuse. We will update these systems as necessary to provide the most current threat protection.

Nonetheless, no method of data transmission over the internet is 100% secure. As such we cannot guarantee the security of the information you share with us.

Your use of this site, and any Personal Information you choose to share on this site, is completely voluntary and you do so at your own risk. We are not responsible for the theft, disclosure, or misappropriation of your Personal Information.

Data Privacy of Minors

We do not sell to minors and our site’s content is not directed to minors. Accordingly, we do not knowingly or purposefully collect Personal Information from minors. Should you, as a parent or guardian, believe a minor in your charge has provided Personal Information to us, we encourage you to contact us immediately and request review and deletion of the information.

Data Breach Procedures

In the event of a compromise of your Personal Data, we will notify you as soon as is reasonable following issue identification, scope assessment, and response.

Any information that is collected via our site is covered by the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected.
